MPA, CFRE (Chief Nonprofit Officer) is a consultant and coach who has worked in nonprofits for over 25 years, with a particular passion for organizational development and fundraising. Recent appointments include Interim Deputy Executive Director at the Human Services Council, Interim Chief Development Officer at Oliver Scholars, and Executive Director at Grace Institute, a workforce development program. Brigid has done extensive consulting in fundraising, nonprofit management, C-suite coaching, multiracial/ multicultural team building, diverse board development & governance, and training with an anti racist lens. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University and B.A. in English from Vassar College. She is currently Chair of the Board of Delgracia Corp, Inc., a startup nonprofit whose mission is to assist young mothers aging out of foster care. Paula Toynton (Lead Facilitator, Chief of Evaluation and Assessment) has 30+ years of experience in community-based organizational development, public health program planning, and service delivery. She is best known for her high-impact communication skills, instructional design, and training methods. Planting seeds of change is what makes her heartbeat faster. Paula is recognized for developing effective organization and community capacity-building initiatives that inspire people to move from understanding to action. She also delivers high-impact communication tools and reports.
Paula leverages her understanding of human behavior with her communication, storytelling, public speaking, writing, and learning facilitation skills to foster a healthy community and organizational culture. Paula’s approach is rooted in a deep understanding of how people learn, change behavior, and the dynamics of identity, belonging, and othering can impact individual and group behavior. She is well-versed in the application of evidence-based and outcome-oriented strategies.
BJ Sung works with corporations, nonprofits, foundations, and families/ individuals to significantly impact the communities they serve. With over 20 concurrent years of experience in philanthropy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and nonprofit management, BJ has extensive knowledge of the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors and has a keen sense of strategic opportunities for social impact.
As a CSR professional at Citi, BJ built strategic partnerships, created impact programs, worked on Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives, trained and placed executives on nonprofit boards, and managed employee volunteer programs. As the VP of Global Community Relations, she worked with national nonprofits, including LISC, CAPACD, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Hope, Red Cross, Enterprise Partners, and other leading progressive nonprofits.
As the Board Chair Emerita of the Korean American Family Service Center, BJ grew the organization by tripling its operating budget, led a merger, and diversified the board. She is a board member & Development Chair of Nonprofit New York and serves on Manhattan Community Board 5. Appointed by Mayor Adams, she is also an ex-officio Trustee on the Board of the New York City Center, a leading arts organization.
BJ is a proud aunt to twelve nieces/nephews, loves the arts, especially opera, and dreams of someday moving to Milano, Italy. After a long career in corporate philanthropy and nonprofit management, BJ now uses the breadth and depth of her experience working with organizations to develop smart, effective strategies to achieve greater social impact.
Paula DiGioia is an award-winning art director and graphic designer. Over her
20-year career, she’s worked across many industries, including finance, media,
publishing and fashion. Today, her passion lies in the food and beverage industry and the
community service sector. DiGioia, a New York native, attended Pratt Institute, graduating with a BFA In Communications Design in 2003. Spending four years in Bedford–Stuyvesant, her family’s old
Neighborhood, Paula fell in love with New York City’s rich culture, arts scene and outdoor public
spaces. Paula also writes a weekly column for the fourth oldest newspaper in NYC—The Wave,
established in 1893. The newspaper serves the community of Rockaway where DiGioia has lived for
seven years. Her column, The Glorified Tomato focuses on food, gardening, family and local
community events relating to her interests. Community is at the heart of Paula’s passion and giving
Back to Rockaway is at the forefront of her vision for The Glorified Tomato.
In 2020, DiGioia joined Open Ocean, a not-for-profit vinyl record label based in Rockaway Beach. The music collective believes that recorded music is public art, to be enjoyed together. Open Ocean produces records by local artists on a donation-only basis, a gift to the community without the barrier of cost. DiGioia’s role in the group is graphic design support, social media manager, and assisting in the artwork and Execution of hand screen printing record jackets. Paula is the manager of Beach 91st Street Community Garden. She organizes programming around coastal environmental awareness, food education, community stewardship and art. In 2021, DiGioia spearheaded a rotating outdoor art Gallery at the community garden where local artists display their work.
Throughout his career, Thomas has been fortunate to work in the private sector (private independent school), non-profit sector (Bed-Stuy YMCA and the For All Kids Foundation), and public sector
(NYC Department of Juvenile Justice). Currently, he is a nonprofit consultant, subcontracting with The Strategic Planning Pros. In his most recent prior position, he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Lyceum Kennedy International School, a private independent school located in midtown Manhattan. Lyceum offers two educational tracks: a bilingual French and English program or a Japanese program. There are 450 students enrolled, representing over 55 nationalities. He managed the three campuses with more than 85 employees. Prior to his COO position, he was the Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Westchester County. During his tenure, his agency won various prestigious distinctions; they were recognized as one of thirty-five best achieving BBBS affiliates nationwide (out of 423 at the time). His affiliate was also
featured on Good Morning America and in People magazine for acknowledging one of the longest continuous mentoring relationships in BBBS history.
